Parent Meeting

I tried to send this out on Friday, but apparently it did not go through, so I will try again!!

Here is a summary of the meeting yesterday for those who could not be there.

Parent Meeting

Safety/General Issues:

  • Please drive slowly through the neighborhood when coming to and from practice. A lot of people walk in the neighborhood – drive as if YOUR kids lived here!
  • Please drop off your children in front of the sidewalk that leads to the pool or between the cones that will set up during practice for children to walk through.
  • Please supervise your kids in the parking lot and playground
  • No siblings on the diving boards or deep end of the pool during practice
  • After practice, please clear the pool area so the coaches can clean up and take the lane ropes out etc
  • Feel free to move chairs during practice but please leave the pool like you found it
  • Please do not talk to the coaches or your swimmers while they are in the water – unless it is an emergency, please let the coaches keep their attention

Meet Entries:

  • Sign up for meets on the website – the deadline will usually be the Friday night before the meet.
  • If you do not commit your swimmer to being at the meet, your swimmer will NOT be entered in the meet!!
  • Coaches select events – you may request an event but it is not guaranteed. There may be times when kids will swim up an age group to fill spots if needed
  • If your child is sick on the day of the meet – please let us know as early as possible so the coaches can make adjustments
  • No parents behind the blocks during the meets (unless you are timing!)
  • Seating arrangements – blankets, shade tents, chairs etc on the grass outside

Volunteering:

  • At least one parent must volunteer during the meets. There is a list of volunteer positions and descriptions on the website. There are some set up/other positions available if you cannot volunteer during the meet.
  • Our first three meets are Home meets – there is a little more work involved but lots of opportunities for fun!
  • Concessions will be setting up earlier in the day
  • Deck set up begins at 4 pm - more hands make light work!
  • We need parents to put the labels on the award ribbons during practice the morning after the meets (ribbons and labels provided!!)

Concessions:

  • We will be accepting donations of drinks to sell at concessions to help cover costs – in return your swimmer will get Barracuda Bucks to spend at the concessions
  • We will send out a list of needed items and the menu as we get closer to the meet
  • The menu will stay the same for all three home meets
  • There are spots to sign up for set up, 1st or 2nd half of the meet, or clean up
  • We will be putting up NO PARKING signs on one side of the street – we will need parents to help with this during practice the morning of the meet

Pink Out – Cobb County summer league fundraiser:

  • Last week of meets – June 27th
  • Link to website on our home page to order shirts, caps, bracelets
  • Money goes directly to It’s the Journey – Local Breast Cancer charity

Time Trials:

  • Next Thursday and Friday morning 26th & 27th
  • We will need timers
  • During normal practice times

Silent Auction:

The Bid sheets for the silent auction will be at practice this next week and we will announce the winners on Friday 27th. Here are pictures of the items we have on auction. There are 2 of each of the large backpacks, 7 of the mesh drawstring bags and 7 pairs of goggles, so come and bid on something!!
